Bantwal, Dec 3: A young photographer lost his life reportedly due to rash driving and over speeding on the part of a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus driver. The accident occurred on the evening of Tuesday December 2 evening at Vogga near here.
Jagadish Ariga (35), native of Gerukatte, who runs Sidharth Studio at Guruvayanakere succumbed to injuries sustained in the said accident.
Ariga was going to Guruvayankaere from Mangaluru, when a KSRTC bus that was said to have been driven recklessly and at high speed, rammed into his motor bike. Ariga suffered critical injuries in the accident after falling on the road. Locals rushed him to a hospital, but he breathed his last before reaching the hospital.
Ariga is survived by wife, and two daughters of which one is six months old.
Bantwal rural police rushed to the spot and took steps to register the complaint and complete other formalities.
Jagadish Ariga was the vice president of Beltangady zonal unit of South Kanara Photographers Association (SKPA). It is said that he was bound for Guvuvayanakere to take part in the SKPA meeting scheduled for the evening. Immediately after coming to know of the tragedy, office bearers of Beltangady unit of SKPA rushed to the hospital. Bantwal zonal unit of SKPA also condoled the untimely demise of the young photographer.
Puttur: Young boy riding pillion killed in accident

Puttur, Dec 3: A nine-year-old boy, who was riding the pillion of a motor bike was killed after the motor bike and a tanker got involved with an accident on the evening of Tuesday December 2. The accident occurred at Uppinangady bypass road on national highway 75. The boy lost his life on the spot.
Sabith (9), son of Abdul Kunhi Musliyar was the ill-fated victim of this accident. He as a fourth standard student of Jnanabharathi Vidyanilaya near Uppinangady. The boy's father, who happens to be the resident of Purinja in Koila village in the talluk, was on a visit to Uppinangady in his motor bike. When he was moving on the rod, a petrol tanker that was returning to the bypass road after offloading fuel in a petrol bunk near the spot of the accident, hit the two-wheeler. Sabith, who was sitting in the back seat, lost his balance, and was thrown onto the road.
The locals got angry at the attitude of the tanker driver, who, in spite of being responsible for causing the accident which took away a life, insisted that four persons were travelling by the motor bike in question. The crowd even threatened to assault the driver. Traffic police from the town came on the scene and took the tanker driver into custody. Uppinangady police visited the spot and helped in easing the situation, when a group of youth demanded that the driver be entrusted to them.
The tanker involved with this accident was confiscated by Uppinangady police. A case stands registered in the traffic police station.
