Mangaluru, Dec 1: Salomi Alvares will make her acting debut in a mono act drama 'Munni' at Kalaangann, on January 25, 2015.
Salomi Alvares is the daughter of Stany Alvares, vice-president-Rachana.
The event will be organized by Mandd Sobhann, in association with Karnataka Konkani Sahitya academy.
The muhurtham ceremony was organized at Chefs Restaurant in Kadri. Gurkar of Mandd Sobhann Eric Ozario gave a floral welcome to the guests.
Salomi Alvares in her address said, "To tell about rang boomi, I am still young but I will give few highlights of 'Munni'. She carries a bag which symbolizes her problems. She has anger in her eyes but her outstretched hand towards the sky means that she also sees a ray of hope amidst all her problems. I need the support of all to make 'Munni' a successful drama".
John M Permannur, the writer and director of mono act drama 'Munni' said, "It is an attempt made after a long time, as the rang boomi continues to change every day. Our old dramas are our past culture and we have learnt many things from them. I had entered rang boomi as a singer and later became a musician with the help of Dolphy Cascia. I got many opportunities to bring changes and experimented in the dramas. Mandd Sobhann has helped and supported me immensely in my endeavour. 'Munni' is not a drama but a life story. I need everybody’s support for the success of ‘Munni’. I thank Mandd Sobhann, Stany Alvares and the press for the kind support in this attempt".
Roy Castelino, president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya academy said, "After I was appointed as the president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, I have seen many changes Konkani. So many programmes, books, dramas, musical nites and many more things have been organized. I see lot of calibre and potentiality in Salomi Alvares to become a great actor in the future. We hope and expect, that she will not disappoint us but achieve great heights in her life. I wish all the success for her attempt".
Well known dramatist and writer, Dennis Monteiro said, "Everybody is born with talents. An artiste discovers the beauty of the statue in the stone which he carves, shapes and moulds into a beautiful statue. We have to discover the talent within us and make attempts to shape that talent into something beautiful. I wish all the success to Salomi".
Vitori Karkal compered the programme.
