Mangaluru: Doctors diverting patients from govt to private hospitals, Khadar issues warning

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Nov 30: It has been alleged that private doctors who visit Wenlock and Lady Goshen hospitals to offer services to patients are involved in diverting the patients from government hospitals to their private clinic by offering requisition slips.

Reliable sources also informed that a few private doctors who come to offer services in government hospitals tell the patients that there are no adequate facilities like radiology in the hospital, and ask them to approach private hospitals by providing them slips.

It is also alleged that the government has provided various facilities to the hospitals but Lady Goshen and Wenlock Hospital in-charge officers have failed to install the machines.

Acting on the complaint, state health minister U T Khadar who visited the hospital on Saturday November 29, strictly ordered district health officer Dr Rajeshwari and Lady Goshen superintendent Dr Shakuntala to take stringent action against such doctors and not allow them into the hospital.

"If not, action will be taken against you," he warned the officials.

Speaking to daijiworld, Khadar said, "I have given final warning to doctors and to Dr Shakuntala and the DHO. Doctors who indulge in such practices need not come to the hospitals. Strict action will be taken if it repeats in future."

Mr. Khader, as a minister should follow the protocol. He can not verbally issue diktats to any professionals. If he finds any malpractices he should send a memo.
Sir, its a democracy not a Monarchy.
