Dubai, Nov 29 (Emirates 247): A 14-year-old girl in the UAE had been raped many times by her father and two uncles before she managed to escape home and resort to local human rights activists, who reported the case to the police, a newspaper said on Saturday.
Police moved quickly and arrested the father, his brother and his wife’s brother on charges of continuously raping the girl and locking her up at home.
Months after she was locked up and deprived of any communication means, the girl succeeded in breaking out of her de facto prison and seeking shelter at the Emirates Human Rights Association, where she revealed her tragedy.
She told them that her own father and two uncles had raped her at home many times while her mother appeared to have approved such a crime.
The shocked members of the association decided immediately to report the case to the police, who moved quickly and arrested the three men.
“She managed to come to us after she was locked up at her home in a UAE emirate and prevented from speaking on the phone with any one. We immediately reported the case to the police against the girl’s parents and uncles before we arranged for her to be moved to a government child care agency in the same emirate,” the association’s secretary general Khaled Al Housani told the Arabic language daily 'Al Khaleej'.
Housani described it as a “broken family” but did not mention its nationality or where in the UAE it lives.
