Kasargod, Nov 28: A person died on the spot, while four others suffered injuries, one of them of grievous nature, after the driver of the car in which they were travelling lost control over the car, which then hit a roadside tree.

The tragedy occurred near Mulleriya on the evening of Thursday November 27.

Vinayachandra (27) from Barikkadu in Vidyanagar here, lost his life in this accident. Gopi (28) from Cherkala Pady, Pratap Raj (35) from Shivamogga, Kumar (53) from Karadka and Kumar's wife, Madhavi, were injured.

Gopi, whose condition was critical, was shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru. The others were admitted into a private hospital in the town by locals who rushed to the rescue of the people in the car immediately after the accident.

On Thursday, Vinayachandra's brother, Raj, had opened a hardware shop at Mulleriya, and the persons in the ill-fated car were returning after participating in its inaugural. At the steep road bend at Poovadka, the car went out of control, and fell by its side after hitting a tree. Although people present near the accident spot rushed promptly to rescue the victims, they could not save the life of Vinayachandra.

Vinayachandra was a bachelor, and was running a fruits and vegetables vending business at Vidyanagar here. A case was registered at Adoor police station relating to the accident.
