Bengaluru, Nov 27 (IANS): India's Capt. P.V.K. Mohan was elected president of the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) here Thursday.
Hyderabad's Capt. Mohan, who is also president of the Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI) and was the vice-president of the IBSF, polled 28 votes to 21 by incumbent Jim Leacy.
Capt. Mohan thus became only the second Indian after the late R.K. Vissanji to head the IBSF Board.
In the elections for the vice-president's post, Maxime Cassis of France defeated Alamgir Sheikh of Pakistan by 27 votes to 23.
Mohammad El Kammah (Egypt) was re-elected general secretary of the Board after Capt. Mohan used his casting vote to break the tie with Dr. Mohammed Leysi (Turkey).
The Board is: Capt. P.V.K. Mohan (President), Maxime Cassis (Vice-President), Mohammed El Kammah (General Secretary), Michael Alkhoury (Treasurer), Barrie Jones and Mubarak Al Khayarin (Members).
