Mangalore, November 17: A national-level seminar on 'Concept and Significance of Marriage and Family: Indian View' was organized by Centre for Inter-Disciplinary Studies and Research In Sanskrit, Canara First Grade College here at T V Raman Pai Convention Centre on Friday November 17.

V S Acharya, state minister for medical education inaugurated the two-day seminar. Speaking on the occasion he said that marriage gives stability, pride and a sense of responsibility, thereby forming a better society. Stressing on the significance of Indian marriage as a part of the rich Indian heritage, he spoke about how Indian tradition has been influencing people from foreign cultures as well. 

N R Kumar, chartered accountant and scholar from Chennai delivered the keynote address on the occasion. He spoke about the pattern of the Hindu wedding, unveiling details regarding kanyadanam, varanam, panigrahanam and its related mantras. 

A book 'Cosmetics and Perfumes' was released on the occasion by Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLC and Kepul Dines Nayak, ex-secretary of CHS Association.

Dr G N Bhat, Director, CISRS, Canara College and T Damodar Pai, DGM, Canara Bank Circle Office were the other dignitaries present on the occasion.
