New Delhi, Nov 26 (IANS): The team of popular light-hearted family show “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma” has launched a digital initiative to promote the Clean India campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The show's entire team was part of the nine nominations made by Modi to propagate the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan -- and they're doing their bit to spread the message.
After inspiring the audience through the show, wherein the characters visited slum areas to teach residents the importance of cleanliness and the process of cleaning, now the team is starting a contest with the aim of involving viewers and fans to take up the initiative for a clean and healthy India.
To participate, the interested candidates can log on to the website www.tmkocmycleanindia.com and share images of your contribution to the 'TMKOC My Clean India' campaign.
If your surroundings are unclean, take a picture and upload it to the website’s iSee section. If you choose to clean your surroundings, take a picture during the act and upload it to the iClean section. After your surroundings are clean, take a picture and upload it to the iMakeMyIndiaClean section.
The people with the best photographs will stand a chance to be felicitated by their favourite stars from "Taarak Mehta...".
The show's producer Asit Kumar Modi believes tapping the digital users is the way to go as India is a young country.
"If we can cultivate the habit of cleanliness and hygiene in them, we can hope for a better and healthier India. We all know that messages given by celebrities have better impact then one’s own parents.
"So we are using the platform of 'Taarak Mehta...' to educate and inspire our fans and youngsters not to litter all around and also maintain a vigil against the offenders,” Asit Modi said in a statement.
