Mangalore, Nov 16: Barke sub-inspector Manjunath who had earlier been suspended has now been discharged from police department by Western Range IGP H N Satyanarayana on Wednesday November 15.
SI Manjunath was suspended from duty while he was in Barke police station for allegedly assaulting innocent persons while conducting investigation into a theft case. Later he was accused of clicking photographs along with some top police officials during the Independence Day celebrations held at Nehru Maidan. A certain section of people had raised objection in this regard since the former was till under suspension then.
Of recent he was caught in a similar matter while trying to click photos in DG's office at Bangalore. He was held back and his camera was seized immediately by the staff of DG office on the same day. Moreover he was also accused of taking to task a traffic police constable in Bangalore before assaulting another traffic police constable at Lalbagh. During the infamous Mangalore riots, Manjunath was assaulted by a mob at Azizuddin Road on October 5.
Based on all these incidents, IGP Satyanarayana Rao has discharged him from police department. However the order is yet to be approved by DG B S Siyal.
