Mangaluru, Nov 22: A youth died and four others were seriously injured when their car rammed into a private bus near NIT-K, Suratkal here on Saturday November 22.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Ashil, a resident of Kudroli and first PU student of St Aloysius PU College. The injured have been identified as Rizwan, Munaf, Syed and Afrid, sources said. Among the five, only Rizwan was above 18 years old, it is learnt.
It is said that Ashil and four other youths were driving from Mangaluru towards Udupi in a car. When they reached near NIT-K, the car went out of control and rammed into the rear end of the private bus.
The bus was carrying labourers from Suzlon, Padubidri, and had halted near NIT-K at the time of the accident, it is learnt.
Eyewitnesses said that the car was being driven at a high speed, which reportedly caused the accident.
The injured were shifted to Unity hospital in the city.
Suratkal police arrived at the spot and registered a case.
