riding/driving your vehicle at high speed is ok in highways but ensure that you have the confidence to control your vehicle when in danger. people who drive fast please dont forget that if there is some accident caused you will lose your life and will also cause huge trouble to others on the road,

i agree with all the points raised by you .But still we can't say we are safe on our roads bcos there are so many idiotic drivers on our roads with non existent traffic policing .... We Indians have to leave it to our fate as of now . I remember seeing a news on bbc a few days back where a truck driver goes in wrong direction to join a highway and it becomes a national news !!! in UK with driver jailed for 8 months !!!! ... Will that happen in our country ???

You are definitely taking a wrong stand point here. It is how you drive rather than the age. Even a 25 year old can be stupid to drive in a rash manner.

My father has inculcated a habit in me not to drive above 80kmph. I make it is point not to go above that speed on highways. It makes me feel safe and also avoids the risks of accidents.

Four basic rules of driving that can save one from accidents:
1) Never cross 80kmph on Indian Highways.
2) Never drive on the wrong side of the road.
3) Never overtake on turnings.
4) Never use mobile phones while driving.

I have been following these 4 rules and I proud to say that I have been accident free in the 9 years of my driving.

The only difference is one will reach 10-15 mins early by going at greater speeds. Life is more imp than these petty minutes. Also plan a travel. If travel time is 1 hr, start 1 1/2 hours early. Enjoy driving rather than rushing towards destination.

Very right bro!! But, if you see this does not work in a 'commercial sense', for ex. tourist bus drivers who do long hauls of over 1000 km., I have experienced Volvo drivers clocking more than 120 kmph especially on the Mumbai-Pune expressway, anywhere they may not be cruising below 80 kms, and they do all sorts of overtaking even at night, but safely (the accident rates are very very low if you see so many different operators buses plying between Mum-Mangalore), it ultimately grinds down to the skill, how focused the driver is on his job, and also the route experience!! Rest all is luck, even if one is driving safely, the one from the opposite can bang you because of whatever reason??

Speed definitely kills. Very sad to see youngsters driving rashly and the family facing dire consequences.

Another issue here the way the buses stop while picking up passengers. A proper extra place (outside the driving area) is not provided at the bus stops. Buses are forced to stop at the driving lane this risking life of others. Another is the way the bus drivers stop. I am a regular on the Udupi-Mangalore highway. Bus drivers stop as an when the passengers show their hand. They even more steeply from the right lane to the left lane. A lot of changes are needed in the way the bus drivers handle their vehicles on the road and even speed detectors must be set up at regular points to detect fast moving vehicles. A vehicle moving at a speed pf 70-80 kmph can be controlled in these circumstances. Cars moving at speeds greater than 80kmph are prone to such accidents as they are not able to stop the vehicles on time to avoid such accidents.

prayers to Almighty to rest the soul in peace of the deceased and give the strength to the members of the family to face the tragedy.But let this not happen again.It is a well known fact that most of the students below 18 bring vehicle to schools and colleges they neither listen to parents nor to teachers. only the traffic police has to take strict action against this. Hope you will take this as a serious issue

now a days parents should give advise to their children. the children should need advise. it is not the way to give whatever the children need. parents are ready to give to theie children with love but at that moment parents should realise what if like this might happen. now a days youth don't hesitate to do anything.they r ready to do all. India should change its license issuing policy and only issue driving licenses to 25 year olds and beyond. The maximum road casualities are when youth are driving.

OMG.Main reason for the accidents is the over speeding especially by the youngsters.Besides mobile phone while on driving.Pray to Almighty to grant eternal peace to the soul of the deceased and strength and energy to bear this irreparable loss to the family members of the deceased and injured and speedy recovery of the injured.
