Mangaluru: Man arrested for molesting NRI student

Mangaluru, Nov 21: Konaje police on Friday November 21 arrested a man on charges of molesting an NRI student from the USA.

The accused has been identified as Abubakker Siddique (36), a resident of Madani Nagar.

As per the complaint, on November 18, the 19-year-old girl had been to a cybercafe located at the ground floor of an apartment building. While she was working on a computer in a cabin, Abubakker allegedly molested her.

Abubakker manages the cybercafe where the incident took place, sources said.

The girl, an NRI from the USA, is studying in the second year at a nursing college here.

Abubakker also allegedly threatened the girl and warned her against revealing the incident to anyone. Though initially she hesitated, she later confided in her college principal who in turn informed her parents.

Finally, the complaint was filed in Konaje police station on November 21 and the same day the accused was arrested and produced in court.

    what a shameful act towards the foreign visitors!and a bad Name for our Country.who knows how many times he tried with others.many People must have not told out of shame.Cancel his licence of cyber cafe and let him atleast say sorry to the Girl and compansate her.The question is why did the Prinzipal not complain self to the Police instead of her parents taking first step?

    It is high time to treat each case like this as an individual demeanor and crime rather linking to community/caste/religion etc. No sane person with self respect would do something like that. Possible administrative action is to mandate surveillance cameras in internet cafe's and other vulnerable places.

Specially when a foreigner walks around the street there are people starring them crazily! Lets have a humanity to the women. THEY ARE NOT JUST FLESH TO SATISFY YOUR NEEDS!!!     While he deserves most stringent punishment, reason for his smiling is, our great judicial system says “Innocent until proven guilty” and he is pinning hopes with this statement. There are plenty of people roaming around with smiling faces thanking our judiciary system. Irony is many of such culprits have already left this world for permanent abode.

    According to report that the victim informed the incident to the Principal, and in turn he or she informed her Parents, then the Parents complained to the Police. Great!! that proves how safe our Principal has acted.
