Bengaluru, Nov 21: The policemen of criminal investigation department, who are investigating the charges of rape levelled by Premalata Shastri against Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji of Ramachandrapur Math, have received the forensic laboratory report, which reportedly confirms that semen traces were found on the clothes submitted by the complainant in support of her claim. With this new development, the case is all set to undergo a new twist.
Premalata, in support of her claims that she had been repeatedly raped by the Swamiji, had provided some of her clothes which she reportedly wore when she was raped, as evidence. Criminal investigation department officials had sent them for forensic scrutiny.
However, currently the police are unable to establish whether the semen samples found on the clothes are that of the Swamiji as alleged, especially as Sri Raghaveshwara Swamiji has challenged the validity of the department's initiatives to subject him to medical tests.
An application moved by the Swamiji against the medical tests is before the high court, in which he has sought to make the union government a party to the suit. At present, a stay has been granted by the high court against subjecting the Swamiji to medical tests.
