George warns Kiss of Love protesters, vows to uphold State's culture

Nov 18 (DHNS) : Karnataka Home Minister K.J. George said on Tuesday that the police will take action against the 'Kiss of Love' organisers, if they disturb law and order in Bengaluru.

Addressing press persons, George said, "We will not hesitate to take action against organisers in case the event is against our culture."

About 150 Kiss of Love campaigners plan to assemble before the City Town Hall to protest moral policing in about a week’s time. The Bengaluru edition of the campaign has been organised by a human right activist Rachitha Taneja.

Kiss of Love, started as a protest against moral policing in Kerala. It has been held in several other cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad.

Pro-Hindu organisations such as Sri Rama Sene have also opposed th Kiss of Love event in Bangalore.

What is this? Kiss of Love in Public? Where our state is moving to. If needs to be protested they have so many ways. Not kissing and swapping in Public. Shame on this.

    What is Indian culture??

    Raping 69 year old woman?

    Raping 3 year old girl??

Where did these rapist learn this things from, even though they don't kiss in public??

What about Kamasutra published in India many centuries ago??

Why are the stone sculptures in Hindu temples welcome people with thousands of erotic scenes of kissing and passionate love, when people ((AS PER THE GREAT INDIAN CULTURE))are supposed to visit these places for purposes other than sex for so many centuries??

From the comments below I am able to say many of them have never been kissed even by their own brothers, sisters, friends or even their parents in their life time which makes them feel kissing in public, church, or even work place, is an immoral thing to do.

Mr.George is a great minister giving useless statements on the rising crime rate, rapes and murder s in Karnataka.

He must realize the weakness of the Congress govt. in suppressing the legacy of moral policing that thrived under BJP which the public want to oppose at any cost, or else we will end up a Taliban state and a nation.

I would also ask the wider world to recognise and celebrate ""Kiss Of Love Day"" as contribution of the free and democratic India to the world, on the same date it sprouted in Kerala on an annual basis in line with the Valentines day !!

I really liked your comment. I was going to post similarly for this article, but when i read many comments below by people who are against Kiss of love, i thought why bother.

I feel that we need to have a strong opposition against the government who panders to fundamentalist and stone age conservatives to curb the freedom of people that has been granted to us by constitution.

Just by going through the comments of these "upholders of Indian culture" will show a striking similarity with taliban. Little by little they will curb our freedom.

Romantic love is a foreign concept to Indian culture. So it's not surprising that so many are opposed to kiss of love. According to Indian culture one get married to fulfill ones sexual desire and produce some kids. There is least concern for the love for spouse. Lot of people praise Indian culture for what it is by ignoring many bad things that exist in our culture.

Rachitha Taneja should understand that one should also be able to control their desires. Expressing it on the road is not accepted in our society atleast for the time being.

This lady, under the diguise of human rights, can demand the freedom of quenching sexual desires when and wherever it arises!

First take stern action against the organizers who are promoting and indirectly encouraging such events. We already have enough social problems in the society.
Today's youth are well aware of "Love Kiss" and achievements. Let them experiment Love Kiss and romance in the privacy.
What is required is legal action against immoral police who interfere when genuine lovers are found together.
If allowed, today's "Love Kiss" may go further on demand (a step ahead) and who can stop?

very unfortunate proceedings ... feeling ashamed by seeing all these incidents. now they claim kissing in public should be allowed. If you don't they will protest. It has come to that extreme now. Tomorrow they will say we want to f### on the road. We should let them , that's what they are expecting. Youths have lost the value for discipline and social responsibilities. I was seeing some clippings in the news channels. what rubbish, they are kissing each other , guys to guys giving lips kissing, girls to girls are giving,,, some couples are enjoying pressing their lips... oh my god, what a tragedy we ended up in this kind of society. Our nation was famous for tradition and culture. Now we are famous for all these stupid acts. Please arrest those organisers and put them behind bars. let them kiss all those jail mates if they are really want to kiss... please stop these nonsenses before it's too late.

Since the successive governments have completely failed to act against moral policing, it has no right to stop this kissing event. Tit for tat..and people giving lecture here on our culture do understand that this is not kissing for pleasure as no sane person would like to express it in public. It is only a display of public anger against those illiterates who do not understand what is freedom.

Once in my young days me and husband were trashed for kissing in public near Udupi. That time we felt bad but as I mature now I feel I shouldnt have done kissing in public That I feel is against our great indian culture We should not publically demonstarte affection. Unquote. is it Kissing in public place is right. Let them kiss in their homes only, Why they want to kiss in public? Is it these people (kissing in public) loving their relatives only or we didn’t love our first relatives before 2014? After sometimes some couple will come out with bed to express their deep love.

Seriously - stop people from urinating in public. Until then, do not even dare prevent hugging and kissing in public.
