Mumbai, Nov 17: Subrahmanya Seva Sangha, which has indulged in social service for the last seven and a half decades in Mumbai, celebrated their platinum jubilee in Karnataka Sangha Mumbai in Dr M Vishweshwaraya hall at Mahim west on Saturday, November 15.
Sangha president, A Srinivas Rao chaired the celebrations. Chief guest, justice Hosabettu Suresh lit the lamp and set the celebrations in motion. He also released the souvenir of platinum jubilee and the directory for members.
Leaders of other associations who have served the people for more than seventy five years including Jagannath P Puthran, Ajith G Suvarna, J M Kotian, Dr Suresh S Rao Kateel, S Kamala, Vasu S Devadiga, Omdas Kannangar, Balakrishna Shettigar, B S Nayak and Bhaskar H S Srinivas were felicitated on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Hosabettu Suresh lauded the efforts of the Sangha and wished it all the success in future. Subhash Rao, secretary of the Sangha was on the dais. The programme started with invocation to Lord Ganapati.
Programme executive president K Subbanna Rao welcomed and gave a key note address. He gave details of the activities of the Sangha and recollected the contribution of former and present office bearers.
Prema S Rao and Anjana Rao compered the programme. Anuradha Rao conducted the cultural programme. Sadashiva Rao proposed vote of thanks.
Divyashree, Priyanjali and Manali Pavan Rao presented classical dance and Nritya Vidyanilaya Bhandup group presented a religious skit directed by Shailaja Madhusoodhan.
The programme on Sunday, Nov 16 at Govinda Hall at Sion East went on the whole day. Community members from city and outside participated. A Yaskagana play was also presented on the occasion.
