Festival to screen new Japanese films


Kolkata, Nov 17 (IANS): Watch how a woman makes a business of renting out cats for companionship, a chef's burning desire to serve people his signature style of the rustic ramen noodles, top detectives transform into crime-fighting children and more such diverse themes at the Japanese film festival beginning here Nov 21.

The Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata in collaboration with Nandan, West Bengal Film Centre presents the aPanorama of Modern Japan' festival where a collection of contemporary Japanese films (2011-2013) will be screened.

"A collection of seven films from the house of eminent directors of Japan will greet Kolkata - the cultural capital of India. All the films will have English subtitles," said a release attributed to the Japan Consulate in Kolkata Monday.

"Tokyo Oasisa", "Rent-a-Cat", "Tug-of-War", "The Story of Yonosuke", "Kids Police", "Leaving on the 15th Spring" and the heart-touching documentary "The God of Ramen" will be showcased at Nandan till Nov 23.
