Mangaluru, Nov 16: 'A two-day Ayush Utsav will be held in Mangaluru city's Nehru Maidan from November 22. Over 10,000 Ayush doctors are expected to participate in the event and deliberate on various issues', said state minister for Health and Family Welfare U T Khadar.
He was addressing the press meet at Circuit house here on Sunday, November 16.
He also said, "In the convention, AYUSH divisions Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy, Naturopathy will take part. The main intention of this convention is to strengthen the Indian system of medicine. There will be interaction sessions with well known doctors like B M Hegde, Deviprasad Shetty. Various major issues will be raised and major decisions will be taken in the convention. State government is issuing bio-metric cards to avoid fake doctors posing as AYUSH doctors".
AYUSH University
Further, speaking to reporters, he also said, "Next year, state government will open an AYUSH university in Karnataka. There are AYUSH university in Banaras and Gujarat. Next year it will come up in Karnataka. University requires 100 acres of land. University will be likely to be opened at Shivamogga".
Ban on chewing tobacco
After the study, health department has already written to Chief Minister and chief secretary for banning on chewing tobacco and selling 'loose' cigarettes and the decision is pending, he informed.
