Udupi, Nov 16: This is the sad state of a woman presently in Udupi who says that she was subjected to rape. She does not remember her own house.
The woman aged 21 years has been admitted to Udupi district hospital and is under treatment.
The woman was found on the road on November 13 evening. She was hungry and was begging to be fed. The public came to her rescue, giving her food and later taking her to the hospital.
The woman says that she was raped and subjected to misery. Presently she does not remember anything including the details of her house and family. She only tells her name. She is believed to be from Kasargod district. The police in Udupi have already informed their counterparts in Kasargod. The woman admits that she takes alcoholic drinks.
Social worker Vishu Shetty brought this information to the notice of public in a press meet in Udupi. Rickshaw driver Vasu Sanil, Sundara Shetty and Manikanta who were instrumental in helping the woman were in the press meet.
There are suspicions that the woman was given alcohol and was subjected to harassment.
It is said that women and child welfare department has not responded yet. Vishu Shetty came down heavily on the department for its inefficiency in rendering help to the needy.
