Mangaluru, Nov 15: Ullal police have arrested three persons involved in many thefts especially at wedding venues and hospitals on Friday.
Shrijith (20) from Dasaramule Konaje, Sachin (19) from Achukodi Pachanady, Akarsh Pillai (19) alias Akash from Shivanagar Moodushedde are the arrested persons.
Police so far have seized a bike and a gold chain. Many more stolen goods are likely to be recovered soon.
The prime accused in this case, Shrijith had stolen a vanity bag belonging to a K S Hegde hospital medical student and he had used the stolen ATM card to withdraw Rs. 10000. The police had a clue in the form of CCTV images where the bike used by the accused was captured.
Again the trio on some other date had stolen a gold chain from a child at a wedding venue in Manjeshwar. It is alleged that the trio had taken the child outside the hall with the pretext of giving ice cream and subsequently managed to steal the chain. Even in this case bike images were captured in the CCTV cameras installed at the wedding venue.
Ullal Inspector Pramodkumar with SI Rajendra, PSI Bharathi, ASI Mohandas and Vijayraj had participated in the operation with the help of other police personnel.
The trio are suspected to be involved in many thefts. As per information available now, they have revealed that they were targeting wedding venues and hospitals where people would easily fall prey. They used to steal only valuables like laptop, mobiles and jewellery.
The trio have shown the police a place where they had dumped stolen ATM cards. Police were surprised to see more than hundred ATM cards there.
