Margao, Nov 9: Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane on Wednesday served an ultimatum on foreigners buying land in Goa that their buying land through illegal means and by violating RBI and foreign ministry rules would put them in trouble. The government considers this act as illegal, and hence such land would become the property of the government.
Speaking at the convention of the Cuncolim block congress committee held at Pazorconi-Cuncolim, Rane also said that advocates helping foreigners to buy land illegally in Goa would also face the problem.
It seems that the Goa government is now serious about the land. Also member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Shantaram Naik while delivering his speech on the occasion urged the government to frame a proper land management policy to save the Goan land.
There will be no agriculture land in Goa in next five years. If any calamities would take place, then who will serve us the food, when there will be no land for agriculture, for which to preserve Goenkarponn (the Goan entity) government should frame policy, he (Naik) said further.
MLA of Cuncolim and urban development minister Joaquim Alemao, in his speech appealed to the chief minister to protect the interest of the 100 villagers as the six-lane express way highway which is planned to pass through their land on which their houses are located, replying to this chief minister assured villagers that government will not harm any villagers and will divert the highway other side, where nobody will be harmed.
