Mangaluru, Nov 14: “You should follow art, literature and culture in life. They should be given more preference in life. Or else you will not find any kind of success in your life.” said Dr B Yasho Varma, the principal of SDM College, Ujire.

Dr B Yasho Varma was speaking after he inaugurated the ‘Pre-Unique 2014’ a state level Inter-Pre University Intellectual and Cultural Fest organized by St Aloysius Pre University College on Friday November 14 in Mangaluru.

Addressing the gathering he Dr Varma further said.“To keep these things alive, all the educational institutions should organize more fests like this.”

Renowned film director Suhan Prasad in his speech said, “In this generation people are giving more preference to education rather than giving to art and culture. Art and culture are as important as education.”

Suhan also said "Life is a race, do not run behind success, run behind excellence. Success will come behind you.” a quote from the movie ‘3 Idiots’,

In his presidential address, Rector of St Aloysius College Institutions Fr Denzil Lobo said,“Life is unique. Students have to shape their lives by themselves. Use all the chances you get to showcase your talents.”

Conveners Bhavani M P welcomed the guests and Arun Vincent D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.

Prior to the formal ceremony, a total number of 22 students performed mega dance and entertained the gathering.

St Aloysius PUC principal Fr Melwin Mendonca, vice principal Rekha K Alva, conveners Sharitha Maria D’Silva, Lavina D’Souza, Alwyn Saldanha, student conveners Niki Shimon Pinto, Shivani J Kateel, Meghna Achar, Ryan D’Souza, Mohammed Altamash Sheik and others were also present on this occasion.
