Mangalore, Nov 7: Additional chief secretary A K Agarwal arrived in the city on Monday November 6 to undertake an enquiry into the communal riots that rocked the district in the month of October. He was appointed by the government some three weeks ago.
Soon after his arrival he called for a meeting of the officers. Various riot related issues were discussed at the meeting. Later he visited some of the violence-marred areas such as mosque in Bijai, Alake, Ullal, Farangipet, Kuttarpadav, Suratkal, Chokkabettu etc.
Later a public grievance hearing was held in the court hall of deputy commissioner's office. He personally heard people and took note of their grievances. No officials or political leaders were allowed to attend the public grievance hearing. In the afternoon again public hearing in the DC's office.
A K Agarwal will be in the city on Tuesday November 7 too and will visit some other areas. Deputy commissioner Maheshwar Rao and SP B Dayananda are expected to accompany him during the visits.
