SMSed boy, saying she is ending her life: Source
Shivamogga, Nov 11 (DHNS): The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is understood to have made a breakthrough in the case pertaining to the mysterious death of 14-year-old schoolgirl Nandita K B.
While the post-mortem report has not yet been made public, highly-placed sources claimed the girl had consumed a handful of Amlodipine tablets which eventually claimed her life. The drug is usually taken to lower blood pressure and prevent chest pain. Her grandmother used to take it.
But it is unclear how many tablets Nandita had consumed on October 29, the day she reportedly went to Anandagiri Hill near Thirthahalli with a boy of her locality. Her family had reportedly scolded her that evening after learning that she had been to the hill with the boy.
The girl was so distraught she is said to have popped pills at night when everyone at home was asleep. She also reportedly sent an SMS to the boy then, saying she was ending her life, said the sources.
Treatment certificate
The treatment certificate issued by Kasturba Medical College Hospital, Manipal, where the girl died on October 31, has become an evidence for this conclusion.
The report signed by Dr Suneel C M, additional professor of paediatrics at the hospital, on November 3 states, “On examination, (the) child was drowsy, hypotensive (having low blood pressure) and was in shock with no peripheral pulses.
She was given intravenous normal saline bolus. However, she persisted to be in shock. Hence, started on dopamine infusion along with maintenance intravenous fluids. Glucometer blood sugar at admission was 55mg/dL corrected with intravenous glucose infusion. Laboratory investigations... revealed prolonged PT with normal electrolytes.
“She had one episode of seizure at 1.45 pm followed by cardiac arrest at 1.50 pm, from which she was revived... However, she persisted to have hypotension and refractory shock. Clinical and local examination, however, revealed intact hymen with no evidence of sexual assault.”
Suicide note
Police said they found a death note in the girl’s school bag but her parents disputed that it was written by her. Eastern Range IGP, S Parashivamurthy, had told reporters, “The handwriting in the note matches with that of the girl. However, the forensic experts will confirm it.” Forensic experts have not yet disclosed the report on death note.
Meanwhile, the CID SP, D C Rajappa, is said to have questioned Thirthahalli police station constable Anil Kumar for his alleged role in this case.
