California, Nov 6: The Indian Christian community of the greater San Francisco Bay area in California celebrated 'All Souls Day' under the aegis of the INFOCUS group. They assembled at the Saint Thomas of Canterbury Church in San Jose for a solemn mass on November 5th. The mass was celebrated by Fr. George Aranha who is the spiritual guide for INFOCUS. The service was marked by lighting of quaint lamps in memory of loved ones who have passed away.
Children and parents carried these lamps in procession and offered them at the altar in prayer. Children had taken initiative in the service with their own choir.
The service was followed by a luncheon get together at the adjacent church hall. The members enjoyed a delicious Indian meal which they had prepared themselves. This was followed by games and recreation at the San Tomas Park for the young and the old alike INFOCUS is the spiritual community group of Indian Catholics in the greater San Francisco Bay area in California.
