Poor woman slapped and threatened in Udupi

Daijiworld Media Network- Udupi(HB)

Udupi, Nov 10: A woman named Jacintha Fernandes was allegedly slapped badly and threatened by the Nemmadi Kendra project director Arun Kumar in Udupi today.

Jacintha is a resident of Bannanje behind the superintendent of police office. She comes from a poor financial back ground and her husband is bed ridden. The couple has small children.

According to the Jacintah, she had heaps of fire wood stored on a barren land belonging to a third party near Arun Kumar’s home. Yesterday his car driver named Hanumantappa reportedly threw the fire wood aside for parking the car.

The dispute ended without quarrels but today morning, the same person again started throwing all the wooden sticks from that place in the presence of Arun Kumar. When Jacintha asked him why he was doing so, Arun Kumar allegedly slapped her badly on the face. Arun Kumar also allegedly threatened Jacintha saying, “If you continue the same, I will kill you by the end of this day.”

Soon after she phoned the police control room, the police officers came to Arun Kumar's home and later returned from his home without telling Jacintha anything.

It is learnt now that Jacintha has been admitted to the district  hospital in Ajjarkad, Udupi.

Hanumantappa has also given a police complaint saying Jacintha started the fight and slapped and threatened him. Hanumantappa has also been admitted now to the same hospital.

Further information is awaited as police are yet to register the cases.

If Hanumanthappa slapped her, he should be punished. Jacintah should not be allowed to store heaps of fire wood in land belonging to a third party.

It is clear that Arun Kumar has good political connections or else the police would not have returned without meeting the complainant. She should have filed a written complaint with the police. It is high time the Sabha take up the case and fight for justice for this helpless lady. Communalising the issue and dragging political party's name which will not serve any purpose. We all should see that she gets justice. This problem can come to any of us tomorrow.

Raising hand on a woman is against Law. Police should have arrested Hanumantha, it does not matter whose land and who owns the fire wood. It appears Hanumantha may have created self inflicted injury on himself to fool the Police and escape Law. This is an interesting matter worth investigating. Hanumantha may have some strong support from outside.

Associations providing basic needs prevalent 50 year ago, are not of much help or meaningful in present scenario.
Requirements have changed with time. They need to adopt requirements of present times as well.
Our religious heads, should take an urgent call on these social needs as well.
No way doing in any wrong legally as well as morally.

    Ismail,
looking at the incident and the way police went out from Arun's house after the poor lady's complaint the case will be cooked as if
    1. he driver politely asked the lady not to keep the fire wood there
    2. the lady was very abusive
    3. Arun requested
    4. Lady became more abusive and even pushed Hanumathappa
    5. in that melee Arun's elbow accidentally hit the face of the lady
    6. meanwhile driver sustained deep scratches (sharp nails of the lady)
    7. the lady was alone and on the other side Arun and the driver. No other eye witness
8 case dismissed due to story cooked by the two 'gentle'men

I disagree this incident,it should not have happened on poor helpless Jacintha. How dare Hanumanthappa could slap and attack Jacintha?Because he thinks that he is the driver of Arun Kumar,Nemmadi Kendra Project director and by the by on what ground so called Arun Kumar,Nemmadi Kendra Project director threatened Jacintha because she is poor and incapable to fight back.In the first place the whole episode could have been solved by Arun Kumar just by pacifying the poor lady.Instead he too acted as if he can do anything he wants.Shameless guy.Hanumantha went and admitted in the hospital just to show to the public tha he innocent and accordingly he can give statement to the police. These are all cooked stories.Arrest both of them and put under bar.Even a lay man can understand this is fishy and cooked story.Jacintha must get justice at any cost. She is innocent and did her duty just asking Hanumantha and Arun Kumar that why you are throwing wooden sticks stored in barren government place. She did not do anything wrong. Why these driver and Arun Kumar assaulted her? for what mistakes of her?.Aurn Kumar should be removed from his post.Ba****d.
