Udupi, Nov 10: A woman named Jacintha Fernandes was allegedly slapped badly and threatened by the Nemmadi Kendra project director Arun Kumar in Udupi today.
Jacintha is a resident of Bannanje behind the superintendent of police office. She comes from a poor financial back ground and her husband is bed ridden. The couple has small children.
According to the Jacintah, she had heaps of fire wood stored on a barren land belonging to a third party near Arun Kumar’s home. Yesterday his car driver named Hanumantappa reportedly threw the fire wood aside for parking the car.
The dispute ended without quarrels but today morning, the same person again started throwing all the wooden sticks from that place in the presence of Arun Kumar. When Jacintha asked him why he was doing so, Arun Kumar allegedly slapped her badly on the face. Arun Kumar also allegedly threatened Jacintha saying, “If you continue the same, I will kill you by the end of this day.”
Soon after she phoned the police control room, the police officers came to Arun Kumar's home and later returned from his home without telling Jacintha anything.
It is learnt now that Jacintha has been admitted to the district hospital in Ajjarkad, Udupi.
Hanumantappa has also given a police complaint saying Jacintha started the fight and slapped and threatened him. Hanumantappa has also been admitted now to the same hospital.
Further information is awaited as police are yet to register the cases.
