Mangaluru, Nov 10: Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala commissioned Indian Coast Guard's Air Cushion Vehicle (ACV) H-196 and H-198 at premises of at Coast Guard Center Station district head quarters here on Monday November 10.
Addressing the gathering Vajubhai Vala said " Today its a great day for Karnataka as coast guard has done a wonderful job. Soldiers have taken the responsibility to protect this nation. Coast guard is now equipped with advanced, well developed technology for the protection of nation which will be useful to fight against terorrists."
He also said that "this vehicle will be very useful to combat terrorists who enter through the sea route. It will also protect our fishermen during emergency and to provide guidelines to them."
"Soldiers work for the country with only notion to live and die for the country. All the people in the country feel safe due to presence of the solidiers. India has a big sea network. It is very important for the seas to be protected from enemies and it is the responsibilty of everyone. As we bow to religious center we should also bow to soldiers who protect this nation." He said.
"I would like to dedicate this vehicle for nation. I salute the Indian Coastal Guard for donating 2 vehicles. To protect the nation one should mind. We will live and die for nation."
IG SPS Basra, YSM, PTM, TM Commander Coast Region (West) presented his key note address.
Rajamani Sharma, Deputy Inspector General of Indian Coast Guard and Commander of Coast Guard,of Karnataka, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Moideen Bhava, Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim, Police Commissioner R Hitendra, ZP CEO Tulasi Maddineni and others were present.
Speaking to media later on the law and order issue, Vala said that government will have to deal with those issues and he will not hesitate to talk to concerned persons if necessary.
