Bengaluru, Nov 10: Cases against MLC Ivan D’Souza and former deputy chief minister and leader of the opposition in Vidhana Parishad K S Eshwarappa have been lodged at Vidhana Soudha police station for their remarks on rapes.
The complainant is T Narasimhamoorthy a lawyer and social activist. The complainant has demanded appropriate legal action on Ivan D’Souza and Eshwarappa for their remarks.
T Narasimhamoorthy in his complaint has said that the remarks made by these two politicians are of mean nature and the remarks demean the dignity of women.
“I do not think the home minister or the chief minister considers everyone as their own. Maybe when their own daughters are raped they might act differently,” was what Eshwarappa had said November 8 in Bengaluru.
Ivan D’Souza in reply to Eshwarappa had said "What if Eshwarappa's wife is raped? What will he do then?" on November 8
in a press meet in Mangaluru. Later on the same day Ivan had called a press meet again to apologize for his remarks.
The remarks by the Congress and BJP legislators had attracted protests from various organizations throughout the state. And now the matter goes to police station.
