Mangaluru: Now, gold found concealed in microwave oven motor at airport

Mangaluru, Nov 9: Thwarting yet another ingenious smuggling attempt, the officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport on Sunday November 9 seized 140.900 grams of gold from a passenger.

The gold was seized from a passenger identified as Shanid Angillath, aged about 23 years, a resident of Thaikadappuram, Kasargod.

The gold was in the form of cut pieces of a gold bar concealed in a microwave oven motor.

The seized gold was valued at Rs 3,69,158.

The passenger arrived at Mangalore International Airport on November 9 at about 17.25 hours by Air India Express flight IX 384 from Dubai.

Further investigation is under progress.

    wow!! good job by our custom officials both sides thief and robber brains have become more sharp. now our officials noses have become 1000 times more sharp than dogs. nobody can beat them. But sad part of their game is people like us who come to visit Mangalore once in blue moon they strip us putting us in their category just because we had stopover in gulf :(

    May be the smugglers are not aware of the latest technology used at the customs.

    He should be booked with goonda act, he tried to cheat Government of India. Any person caught with gold with original form can be treated as normal offender. If they modify the source is cheating.
