Bantwal, Nov 8: The police have booked three persons under the Goonda Act for allegedly indulging in various crimes including murder, attempt to murder, assault, damage to property and so on at several places under Bantwal rural police limits and different parts of the district.
The accused are Haneef alias Mada Haneef (29), a resident near Perimar mosque, Devasya in Bantwal, Afeez alias Appi (25), a resident of Maripalla, and M Imran (23), also a resident of Maripalla.
Haneef, a coolie worker at Mangaluru's Central Market, faces charges in 8 cases in Bantwal rural police station, and one each in Bantwal town and Bajpe police stations.
Afeez is into stone business at Puttur. He is charged in 4 cases in Bantwal rural police station and one in Bantwal town police station.
Imran too works as a coolie at Mangaluru's Central Market. He has 8 cases against him in Bantwal rural police station, and one in Bantwal town police station.
They have been booked under the Karnataka Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Drug-offenders, Gamblers, Goondas, Immoral traffic offenders and Slum-Grabbers Act - 1985.
Presently, the accused are in judicial custody at Hiriadka jail in Udupi.
