Mangaluru, Nov 4: Child prodigy magician Sathwik Nayak has held several magic shows. While other magicians show magic with no particular purpose other than entertainment, Sathwik raises his tiny hands and says 'Magic down syndrome' is not a sickness but a state of mind. His magic shows are meant to create awareness on the state of mind while providing entertainment.
Puttur Sathwik Nayak from Dakshina Kannada has been recommended by MLA Shakuntala Shetty for President of India's award for the year 2014 on the occasion of Children's day celebrations. The union government's department of women and child welfare has selected him for the award.
The President of India Pranab Mukherjee will be presenting the award in a programme that will be held at Rastrapathi Bhavan on November 14.
The award consists of a silver medal, a certificate and Rs 10,000 cash. The award will be received by him accompanied by Puttur Suresh Nayak, his uncle who holds a Limca record.
Young Sathwik Nayak is the son of Puttur's Sri Ram Shares owner Umesh Nayak and Roopashree. He is a student of UKG. He has given more than 100 presentations in schools, special schools, old age homes and other programmes from age of 4 along with his differently abled uncle Karnataka state award winner for 2012, Suresh Nayak.
Sathwik Nayak is included in world records by India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records. Karnataka state Chief Minister Siddaramaiah set in motion Suresh Naik's campaign on awareness of the syndrome by a magic.
There will be campaigns by Sathwick Nayak on Swach Bharath by magic from November 12 to December 7. The magic shows in Delhi and Haryana are meant to create awareness on the syndrome and cleanliness. He has been felicitated by several organizations.
