No special probe into Thirthahalli incident: Kimmane Ratnakar

Bangalore, Nov 4 (DHNS): Shimoga district in-charge minister Kimmane Ratnakar has ruled out a special probe into the Thirthahalli incident in Shimoga district, in which a 14-year-old schoolgirl was “abducted and poisoned” by three young men last week. He said the jurisdictional police were on the verge of apprehending the culprits.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday after briefing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah about the incident, Ratnakar said that it was the government’s responsibility to bring the guilty to book.

Asked whether the government was contemplating handing over the investigation to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Ratnakar said that the jurisdictional police were confident of apprehending the culprits within three days. “There is no question of protecting anybody”, he said.

Ratnakar, who is MLA from Thirthahalli, claimed the BJP was trying to “draw political mileage” out of the incident, and accused it of “plotting to incite communal violence”.

The girl’s parents had made a complaint to the police that she was abducted by three men who later poisoned her. She died of health complications on October 31.

The minister claimed that “vested interests and communal elements” had taken political advantage of the incident and shouted slogans and staged protests against him in Thirthahalli. He pointed out that he could not be in Shimoga on the morning of November 1 as he had to attend the Rajyosatva event in Bangalore organised by the Department of Public Instruction. “A disinformation campaign was launched against me during the girl’s funeral to instigate the crowd,” he averred.

On the demand of the ABVP—the BJP’s student wing—that the government pay compensation to the girl’s family, Ratnakar said that since a murder case had been registered, the government was studying the rules whether compensation could be paid at this stage.

Violent protest in Thirthahalli, 'death note' emerges

Daijiworld Media Network – Shivamogga (RJP)

Shivamogga, Nov 4: With no arrests made so far in the Nandita death case, police have not come to any logical conclusion in the mysterious death of high school girl Nandita.

The protest held in Thirthahalli on Monday November 3 turned violent with a few people resorting to stone pelting. Police arrested more than 20 protesters, while 8 others were injured and admitted to hospitals.

Meanwhile, the police have revealed that Nandita left behind a death note in which she reportedly states that she took the extreme step due to some mistakes committed by her. The note states that her father is a good person. Nandita apologised to him for her mistake of not studying well. Nandita also told her sister to be good.

However, the father of the deceased has said that Nandita did not write any death note.

The issue has reached the neighbouring district with coffee growing areas of Koppa and Jayapura towns observing bandh demanding justice for Nandita.

    People,

This whole story does not sound true.

Firstly what autopsy report says? Was it a rape or not.

Then what type of poison was used and who bought it and from where?

Why Police were not able to get her abductors arrested and question them so far???

If Police could not answer these 3 simple questions, since her death, what type of Police force we have in this state???

Police should be kept out of political control like rest of civilized countries,,, then only Police act fairly and fearlessly...

First report, abduction and rape, then she went with her friend on her own will, then She was abducted and poisoned, now her death note saying suicide. what is this nonsense? media has to investigate on its own. If this is the case then off-course special investigation required
