Mangaluru: ABVP demands justice for girls

Mangaluru, Nov 3: Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarti Parishad (ABVP) organized a state level protest against failure of government in preventing increasing sexual assaults on women and minor girls and demanding the government to take proper legal action against the offenders.
The protest was held at Ambedkar circle here on Monday November 3.
Addressing the protest, Chaitra of Mangalore University College said " Sexual assault over the women is rampantly increasing and state government has completely lapsed to prevent assaults on women. 400 sexual assaults cases are registered in 2014 in which 300 cases are on minor girls. State government should take stringent action against the offenders and prevent the sexual assaults and should follow the safety guidlines in preventing them. In all educational institutions Women Safety Cell should be formed."
Jayesh PK, the city secretary said "As the sexual cases are increasing, the state government has failed to prevent the increasing sexual assaults. Immediately government should take proper measures to curb the sexual assault on women and minor girls. If government fails to prevent this, then ABVP will hold sever protest against the government."
Lavin Kotian ABVP district organizing secretary of ABVP also spoke on this occasion.
Udupi: ABVP hold protests to condemn incidents of sexual assaults on minor girls

Udupi, Nov 3: The members of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) along with students of several colleges staged a massive protest near Clock Tower in Udupi on Monday November 3, and demanded to take immediate action against culprits and prevent sexual harassment in the state.
Addressing the protest Sahana, first year student of Vikunta Baliga Law College said "India is a country of rich culture. This is a matter of shame. Each parent is feeling insecured about their girl child. Nowadays, there is no guarantee of a working woman or school girl returning home,"
"There is a need to teach boys on how to behave with girls. Exploitation should not be happen in our culture. Such cruelties are increasing day by day, but the culprits do not get punished in the court."she added.
She alleged that there are many sexual harassment cases like Sowjanya rape case, suspicious death of Rathna Kottary, rape case of Manipal student, porn film cases and now case about Nanditha.
She demanded that Karnataka state government should take stern action against culprits without fail.
The ABVP members shouted against the state government and asked them to break the silence and demanded that the Home minister should focus on immediate arrest of real accused.
The demands of the protestors were:
Immediate deliverance of state government’s guidelines regarding security rules in schools.
Punish the offender and execute a strong laws for controlling the sexual crimes.
Structure a ‘Mahila Suraksha committee’ in in all educational institutions.
Students of Mahesh Educational Institution Udupi, Poorna Pragna College and Vaikunta Baliga Law College were present.
The ABVP protest was led by district convener Parithosh D Jain and secretary Sukhamani.
