Mangaluru, Nov, 3: Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, RSS leader from Dakshina Kannada has been summoned by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Bangalore to seek some information in the suicide case of Shyamprasad.
Shyamprasad (55) a resident of Puttur had shot himself with a country gun at his residence on August 31 and had died at a private hospital later in Mangaluru.
It is said that the deceased had a telephonic conversation with Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat before the suicide. And on basis of this, the CID have now summoned Dr Bhat, it is gathered,
In a death note found at Shyamprasad's house, Shyamprasad had reportedly stated that he was taking the extreme step due to threat calls he received from the Ramachandrapura Math in connection to the sexual harassment case against its spiritual head Raghaveshwara Bharati.
The Puttur police had registered a case under sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 306 (abetment of suicide) of the IPC and 66A of the Information Technology Act (sending offensive messages through communication service).
The CID team also had visited Shastri's house in Badekkila in Kedila village on September 15 and recorded statements from Shastri's wife, son and some relatives.
Shyamprasad
It may be recalled here that Anshumathi Shastri, daughter of Diwakara Shastry and Premalatha, residents of Banashankari in Bangalore, had alleged Sri Raghaveshwara Bharati and his disciples of sexual harassment. Based on her complaint, the police had registered a case against the swamiji and others under IPC sections 354A (sexual harassment) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
Premalatha was one of the performers in Ramakatha, a group dance based on mythology, for the last three years, organised by the Math. Diwakara Shastry was closely associated with the Math's administration.
The deceased Shyamprasad Shastry is the brother of Diwakara Shastry.
