Bengaluru, Nov 3: On the allegation of making scurrilous remarks against Anshumathi Shastri, daughter of Premalata and Diwakar Shastri couple, who has registered a complaint against head of Sri Ramachandrapur Math, Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji, in Banashankari police station here, the police have arrested two persons, said to be ardent supporters of the above Math.
The arrested persons are Sanath Paleppaddy from Bellare in Sullia taluk, and Santosh from Thirthahalli in Shimoga district. Criminal case was filed against them and some others under Information Technology Act. Both were remanded to 15 days judicial custody on being produced in the court here.
After Anshumathi filed the above complaint, photographs of her taking part in parties arranged in college in the company of her friends some years back had been uploaded on Facebook. Some comments were also posted to these items. Anshumathi had said in her complaint that her photographs had been uploaded in social websites without obtaining her concurrence or permission. She said the photos were put up with the specific objective of harming her image, and comments which made wry remarks about her were backed by designs of harming her reputation.
The said arrests were made on Sunday November 2 with the help of policemen of cyber cell. Police sources said that immediately after the news of these arrests spread, several persons who had shared the said photographs had deleted them from their accounts, while some have deleted derogatory comments and changed profile pictures. They added that some of them have closed their accounts in the social media.
Anshumathi said she had drawn attention of the police towards 18 persons who had attempted her character assassination through social websites. She said her mother and their family were facing hostility from the so called devotees of Sri Ramchandrapur Math after her mother sought justice. She recalled the Swamiji used to term her mother as an enlightened soul in the past.
