Pune, Nov 1: Fake stamp-paper mastermind Abdul Karim Telgi has said Anil Gote, a former MLA, helped him in getting stamp vending licence for him in 1994 through his contacts with the then Revenue Minister in Maharashtra.
In a confessional statement before Chief Judicial Magitrate D W Modak in February 2006 that Gote, who is also an accused in the case and now in jail, was told by him about his business plan.
The then Samajwadi Janata Party MLA took his application to the minister and after a month on March 18, 2004 he was informed by the superintendent of the stamp office that his licence was ready, Telgi said.
He claimed that the superintendent asked him to put in a good word about him to the minister apparently because he was impressed with his connection.
Telgi's confession was recorded on the directions of special judge U D Salvi of Greater Mumbai and a copy of which was given to him recently.
