Dubai, Nov 2: As a part of their social responsibility and on the ocassion of All Souls' Day, Konkan Yuva, the dynamic youth group of St.Mary's Catholic Church Dubai gathered together for a cleaning session of Al Jaddaf Cemetery. More than 28 members of Konkan Yuva gathered for this particular exercise.
The day started for the members at 7:30AM on Friday, when the members arrived to clean and went until 11AM. Equipped with sickles, brooms, paint brushes, water hose, the cemetery which was riddled with lot of bushes, dust, leaves and unwanted substances, the youth got rid of most of it. The team was also accompanied by catechism students of St. Mary's Catholic Church. The exercise was ably supervised by Richard.
Speaking on the occasion, Josna Martis, President of Konkan Yuva mentioned, "Konkan Yuva always looks forward this day every year as it gives us an opportunity to get together and help the community. It's also a way of respecting departed souls as we celebrate All Soul's Day and I thank St. Mary's Church for providing us this opportunity."
Another member, Vivian mentioned, "This is my first year doing something like this in Dubai and I liked doing it. Being surrounded by so many youth also gives you an automatic energy boost to do something in return to the community."
Ronald D'Cunha, Chairman of Volunteers Group of St. Mary's Church mentioned, "Konkan Yuva has always been part of the cemetery cleaning exercise and this year was no exception. I thank them on behalf of the Church for their voluntary service to the community."
