Muscat, Nov 2: With only five more days to go for the mega finale of gulf's historic Konkani event to be held at Muscat, 12 singing stars hailing from Mangalore, residing in Gulf are on hectic preparations for the finale. 2014 Gulf Voice of Mangalore finale is considered as one of the toughest challenges to be conquered for the contestants as the best of 12 selected talents are gearing up to perform during the finale.
Daijiworld introduces all 12 singing stars of Gulf just before the real test which commences on Friday, Nov 7 at Muscat.
Oman's MCCP, one of the leading organisations in the gulf is organising the final event.

Bahrain:
Larisa Janice Miranda
Larisa Janice Miranda from Shankerpura (Pangala) is daughter of James Benjamin Miranda and Florence Flavia Miranda currently working as medical administrator. Singing, Poetry Writing, Dancing, Playing the piano and Swimming are some of her hobbies. "God has blessed me with the gift of music, and I will sing every day of my life with the joy he puts in my heart when I sing”, says Larisa.
She has completed Grade 8 Music Examination in Piano through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, UK.
Vijeth Cliston Dsilva:
Vijeth Cliston Dsilva, hailing from Chikmaglur, is the son of Clifford Dsilva and Veronica Lobo. Vijeth works as accountant in Bahrain. Singing, music, playing keyboard, driving and travelling are his hobbies.
"My ambition in life was to be a singer but chances of making it as a career looked bleak. My mere interest in the field of music also made me to learn Piano/Keyboard and I learnt it myself just with some basic notes. I was looking out for a platform wherein I could survive and also was keen enough to exhibit it to a certain level where I can prove myself. I started learning Konkani songs recently as I only used to sing Hindi & English songs and was more devoted towards Catholic English hymns. Since my childhood days, I've bagged numerous prizes and accolades in singing competitions and I'm looking forward to perform to the best of my capabilities in GVOM-4 finale", says Vijeth.
Doha - Qatar:
Sana Britto:
Sana Britto, hails from Udupi. She is the daughter of John Britto and Denzil Britto. Sana is currently pursuing third year of Business Administration at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar. Public speaking, travelling, reading, listening to music, dancing and singing are her passion.
"I have been an active part of the children’s choir in Doha since I was 3 years old and led the choir for many years under the leadership of Dony Lobo. I have taken training in Hindustani vocals for almost two years. Staying together with my family, speaking in Konkani at home since childhood, frequently visiting relatives back in native place and their continued support have helped me not to forget my roots in spite of living in a foreign country. I have participated in several Konkani singing and talent competitions conducted by various clubs in Qatar especially the Mangalore Cricket Club, Voice Workshops conducted by Mangalore Cultural Association Qatar, which have given a good platform to nurture my singing skills in Konkani. This has helped me to be the Qatar Finalist in Soad-3 International Konkani singing contest organized jointly by MCC, Qatar and Mandd Sobhann, Mangalore which was held in the year 2012", says Sana.
Harry Praveen Correa:
Harry Praveen Correa hails from Bejai, Mangalore and is the son of Late Joachim and Celine (Sequeira) Correa. He is married to Karen Sunitha Correa. He currently works as Strategic HR and Recruitment manager. Singing, dancing, reading, fitness training, Yoga are his hobbies."I like to read anything and everything about current affairs, politics, world affairs, banking etc. I need to constantly read and then regurgitate, try new things to be able to say, I have learnt something new. I don’t rely on hearsay and rumours. I set very high standards and try to outdo myself just to prove to me that I’m good at what I do. I do not like people who talk in the air and ill/gossip about others. If I know something about any topic, I speak, or else I don’t. My personal work Motto is ‘I need to see it to believe it’”, says Harry.
Kuwait:
Shaila Lobo
Shaila Lobo hails from Milagres, Mangalore. She is the daughter of late Marcel Lobo and Margaret Lobo. She is married to Oswald Lobo. She currently works as an executive support at Alshaya Trading. Her hobbies are singing, dancing, cricket, sports and cultural activities, dumb charades.
"I have a beautiful family of five members. Singing, dancing and cricket have been my passion from my childhood. I have won several prizes at school and college level.
My Dad was my inspiration to sing, as we all family members learnt the art of music from him. He was the choir master for Konkani congregation at Infant Jesus Church, Bangalore", says Shaila Lobo.
Morvin Quadras:
Morvin hails from Barkur and is son of Edward and Monica Quadras. He works as Sales Engineer at Alghanim Industries. Singing, dancing, badminton and cricket are his hobbies.
"Loved music as a child and developed my passion for it when I started singing in the church choir of Barkur Parish. Felt encouraged after singing for Eric Soans devotional album and in Oswald Valencia’s Konkani musical album. Winning the 2nd runner up title for GVOM season 3 has helped me sing confidently at various associations in Kuwait and Muscat and have become an active member at Abbasiya and Ahmadi Konkani church Choir. My passion for singing comes from deep within my soul, mind and heart. When I sing, I sing with all of me, putting everything I can into it. And truly nothing would have been possible without the continuous support from my family and friends in India and Kuwait, Muscat and GVOM organizers", says Morvin.
Oman:
Josma Henna Rodrigues :
Josma Henna Rodrigues hails from Alangar, Moodbidri and is the daughter of Joseph Rodrigues and Clara Helen Rodrigues. She currently works as Chemical Engineer.
Her hobbies are music, playing piano and guitar, reading books, jogging and badminton.
"I love singing, especially slow intense songs which are capable of transferring mighty emotions. I feel carried away to another world by a powerful voice in a song. My dream is to be able to do that, when somebody else comes across my voice. I am not a trained singer. However, I've received Classical training in Piano from ABRSM (British board). I've completed all 8 grades. I believe learning to play the Piano as a kid has been a huge boost for my overall musical development. In 2008, I won the 'Young Musician of Muscat' award/scholarship organised by Young Musicians of Muscat(YMM) which led to my year-long formal Diploma training in Piano", says Josma.
Sachin Joy Lobo:
Sachin Lobo hails from Bendur , Mangalore. He is son of John lobo and Leena lobo. He currently works a SAMC division head in YAAT, LLC. Cricket, Football, singing, dance and choreography, long drives are his hobbies.
"I give full credit to my God and my family (Dad, Mom, sister Zeena Lobo and bro-in-law Reizen Jude Pereira) who stood beside me and gave me their full support. I dedicate this finale to them. CAL (Catholic Action League) which is a part of ICYM at Bendur church had given me an exposure to my talents and it was a strong platform for me to reach up to this level which I can never forget in my entire life", says Sachin.
Saudi Arabia:
Pramila Rodrigues:
Pramila Rodrigues hails Brahmavar/Udupi and is the daughter of Benedict Rodrigues and Mary Rodrigues (Bennekudru, Barkur). Pramila is married to Richard Rodrigues. She has two kids Ricky Rodrigues and Pearl Rodrigues. She works as a teacher.
Gardening, reading and shopping are her hobbies.
"I studied at Milagres College, Kallianpur. I met my husband in ‘88, got married and moved to Jubail, Saudi Arabia in ‘89. I have lived with my family here ever since. For 18 years, up until 2012, I worked at the International Indian School Jubail as a teacher. I’ve had a passion for singing since I was in school. I participated and won several singing competitions over the years.
I won the ‘Sur Aur Taal’ Jubail toastmasters singing competition in 2004.
I believe that people all over have immense potential in them. Yet the expatriates in the gulf are a community that does not have too many opportunities to showcase their talent. I feel that for the Mangaloreans in the Gulf, GVOM has become an incredible platform. For me, the journey so far into the finals has been amazing. By God’s grace, my family’s support and all the good wishes from my friends, I hope to deliver my best in the competition”, says Pramila.
Roshan Philip Rodrigues:
Roshan hails from Madanthyar now resides at Bendur, married to Olinda Meera Rodrigues. He is the son of Anthony Mary Rodrigues Madanthyar. He has two children Anisha, Adele and Aldrina Rodrigues. He currently works as Technical Director, for Al-Sayed Group of Industries. Singing, Master of Ceremonies and playing Vollyball are his hobbies.
"A dream to release own music album, President of Karnataka NRI Forum Jeddah, KSA is my aim. NRI students should also get equal chance to appear in CET exam. In Karnataka state, I am active in NRE Cell of Karnataka", says Roshan.
UAE:
Joshal Sweeda D’souza:
Joshal hails from Ujire and is the daughter of John D’souza and Seraphine D’souza. She currently works as QA/QC Assistant at Weatherford Oil & Gas Company. Singing, dancing and acting are her hobbies.
"I have twice won state level prize in eastern solo singing, won prize in classical singing solo conducted by Golden Music Institute, Abu Dhabi, UAE. Singing, playing keyboard and conducting Choir in Ujire Church for 12 years have helped me immensely. I have done classical vocal training from Sandesha Music Institute, Mangalore", says Joshal.
Vincent Rodrigues:
Vincent hails from Bajal, Mangalore and is married to Priya Crasta. They have two children Ashton and Prishel. He currently works as Credit controller (Account Receivable) at “Sigma Enterprises LLC” (Mazrui Holdings Group AUH). Playing Guitar and singing are his hobbies.
"I have been singing and playing guitar since my childhood in Church Choir. I have sung and performed as a lead and Bass guitarist in India and in most of the major programmes in UAE up to present time including several musical nites. Sang for Album “Portun Love Zala” by Rayan Rodrigues", says Vincent.
