Udupi: Patriotic fervour marks Rajyotsava celebrations

Udupi, Nov 1 : The 58th Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated in a grand manner at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College Grounds in Udupi on Saturday November 1.

District in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake hoisted the both national and state flags with respect of national anthem and received the guard of honour. A colourful march-past by 13 teams led by Umesh P, the district armed reserve force was held.

Addressing the gathering, Sorake said, “Kannada Rajyotsava should not be limited to celebration alone, there is need to understand the significance by cultivating Kannada culture in our routine. Unity, integrity and fraternity are the hallmark of our culture.”





























































































The minister in his address listed the plans, schemes and grants provided by the state and the central governments to the district.

He commemorated the great personalities, who were sacrificed their life for the unification of Karnataka.

He added that, Government has plans to provide, agricultural services through networking called E-Kisan. There are 1, 48,872 beneficiaries in the Anna Bhagya Scheme in the state and 50,436 new cards have been distributed in present year. Vidya Shri Scheme has been implemented for deprived students and already received 12, 317 applications.

Sorake also said that nearly 107 villages out of 146 have been given sanitary facilities and received ‘Nirmal gram
Award’ under the scheme of Nirmal Bharath Abhiyan. Rs 40 crores have been allotted for up gradation of district road of Malpe- Molakalmur state highway. Rs. 470.22 lacs total amount is allotted for construction of 14.60 km state high way under the 13th Financial scheme, 2014-15 year.

He said Rs 800 lacs have been allocated for construction of Government Politechnic building in Udupi-Karkala Taluk. Rs 295 lacs has been kept for construction of 5 bridges under NABARD scheme. There were 52 surveyors recruited by the Revenue department in all four taluks.

State-level Athletic Sports will be held on November 29, 30 and December 1 in the district. International level Momen’s sports will be held on from 18 to 21 December under the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan.

IDSSMT project for drinking water and drainage management in Karnataka Urban Development and Coastal Environmental Management Project (Kudcemp) , was approved at 85 crores. Rs 8 crore for Kundapur CMC and drainage for Rs 54 crores has been allotted in this year.

He wished to join hands together for the comprehensive development of nation.

As many as 23 achievers were honored with District Rajyotsava awards for their outstanding achievements. SSLC students who have got highest score in the SSLC exam, received the district level Hoysala and Keladi Chennamma awards.

The celebration began with a procession from Board high school, Udupi to MGM ground along with colourful tablos and dances by various artists.

Many patriotic cultural programmes were conducted on the occasion by various students.

MLA Pramod Madhwaraj, deputy commissioner SS Pattana Shetty, District CEO Kanagavalli, Savitha S Kotian, ZP president, Yuvaraj CMC President, Sunitha nayak Taluk panchayat president and others were present.
