Mangalore, Nov 1: In relation to the ghastly murder of Ijaz alias Ijja (28) from Kannur Ganadabettu near Adyar here on Friday October 31, policemen reportedly have taken two into custody for questioning. Ijaz, who had visited a salon at Kannur at around 11 am on Friday was slain by a gang wielding lethal weapons, before fleeing in a car.
Ijaz had 32 wound marks on his body and pieces of his body parts got severed due to the intensity of the attack. It is said that Ijaz, who was unmarried, was involved with ganja trafficking, and an environment of intense animosity had been created between two gangs engaged in the same business of late. The opposite gang, which was waiting for an opportune time, killed their enemy on Friday, as per one theory.
The gang members seemed to know that Ijaz visited this salon every Friday morning before attending prayers at the local mosque in the afternoon. It is said that the gang which had planned to eliminate Ijaz had deputed a person in advance to check whether their target was inside the salon or not. As soon as they got green signal, the gang rushed to the spot and hacked Ijaz to death, it is said.
Ijaz was named in the murder of Sannaputta alias Puttu Monu at Kannur in March 2012, hearing relating to which is in progress in the third JMFC court here. The brother of Ijaz reportedly had attacked Puttu Monu, after which Monu underwent prolonged treatment in a hospital. Last year, the Puttu Monu gang attacked Ijaz, sometime after which a gang led by Ijaz's brother reportedly eliminated Puttu Monu. There is speculation that the murder of Ijaz would have been an act of revenge relating to Puttu Monu's killing.
