Bangalore, Oct 30: Karnataka’s Home Minister K J George has accused the opposition BJP of ''hatching a conspiracy" for his removal from the Siddaramaiah’s Ministry for preventing the saffron party from implementing its ''hidden agenda" in different parts of the State.
George, who held a meeting with top police officials at his chamber, told reporters on Thursday that the BJP leaders had made several efforts to implement the party’s "hidden agenda" in Mangalore, Chikmagalur, Sira in Tumkur, Yadigir and Bijapur and the police had thwarted them.
He accused the BJP and SanghParivar outfits of attempting to ''disturb communal harmony and peace" in different parts of the State.
But the police have taken stern action against all anti-social elements and ensured normalcy, he said.
In a sharp reaction to the action of State BJP leaders in submitting a memorandum to Karnataka Governor VajubhaiVala at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday, the Home Minister said the memorandum alleging a ''deteriorating situation in all aspects of governance" and the demand that the Governor "take cognisance" and initiate action was part of the sinister designs of BJP.
The BJP leaders in their memorandum had asked the Governor to "take necessary steps under the constitutional guidelines to bring the administration on the right track."
"I will give full explanation to the Governor if he (Governor) seeks it on the law and order in the State," George said.
The Home Minister maintained that the BJP’s allegations against him were ''totally politically motivated and baseless."
The State Government and the police have acted against ''moral policing" in Mangalore and other parts of the state, he said.
''We will not allow any organisations or outfits to take law into their own hands or indulge in moral policing," he declared.
