Bhatkal, Oct 28: Talk of harmony in crime. While it is said that criminals have no religion, three thieves here used that very same aspect to loot believers of Islam as well as Hinduism in mosques and a temple.
The three thieves were arrested by the Bhatkal crime branch police.
According to the police, the accused committed thefts in three mosques and a temple.Two of the accused donned kurtas usually worn by Muslim men, and entered the mosques for Namaz, while the third person begged in Muslim areas. All three of them even grew beards to hoodwink people.
It is said that last month all the three were seen begging outside Juma mosque. Last month, there were five theft cases in Madina Colony, in which these three persons were allegedly involved.
Initially, the police arrested a person identified as Arvind Jagga and during interrogation he said that there were two more persons in Karwar, who after sometime were supposed to shift to Bhatkal.
Bhatkal CPI Prasant Naik and Bhatkal Crime Branch PSI Prakash Banth went to Karwar found the two people on a footpath near the railway station.
The other two accused have been identified as Jitendra and Monnu Lallu who hail from Sultanpur district of Shivant Nagar in Uttar Pradesh.
Accoring to police, all three have accepted their involvement in the theft cases at Aysha Masjid, Farooqi Masjid, Umer Masjid and Dongerpalli Temple.
The three arested were produced in court on Monday October 28.
Bhatkal town police have registered a case.
