Mangalore, Oct 27: All political parties and organisations must come together to work towards removing communal feelings from the minds of the people, opined V R Sudarshan, former chairman, Legislative Council.

Sudarshan is on a state tour as the head of the Mysore division of one of the four teams constituted by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). The teams are touring eight districts to evaluate the state of affairs in each of them.

Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday October 26, Sudarshan said that the members of the committee had meetings with various officials regarding the recent riots and issued related to development.

Referring to loss caused by natural calamities in the district, he said that heavy rains during the year claimed 13 lives and destroying standing crop in 630 hectares. As many as 975 houses have been damaged. He added that out of the 12.6 crore needed to repair the roads and bridges Rs 5 crore has been released by the Union government.

Once the tour of the districts is over, the committee heads will submit a report to KPCC president Mallikarjun Kharge.
