Bangalore, Oct 27: Karnataka chief minister, Siddaramaiah, and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, Dr G Parameshwar, confirmed that they have finalized list of candidates to be nominated as presidents of corporations and boards. They said they will be leaving for New Delhi on October 30 to hold discussions with high command and get their approval for the list.
Parameshwar added that although the high command has clearly informed that former MLAs and those who fought previous election should not be considered for these posts, a request for waiver in a few cases would be made with the high command.
Both the leaders met in a private hotel in the city on Sunday, and came to a consensus after holding final around of talks on the above subject. They said they held prolonged discussions on this issue and finalized 90 percent of names. The remaining names will be finalized once the high command gives its approval, they said.
The list prepared by them, it is said, contains recommendation for nominating people for presidents to 80 corporations and boards, 14 vice presidents, and 650 directors and members.
It is learnt that there is pressure to consider current legislators when nominating vice presidents to corporations and boards headed by ministers. There was also demand from candidates who contested and lost recent election for being accommodated in these bodies. These names will be finalized after discussing with top leaders, it is gathered. There is the likelihood of some powerful politicians from the state like Mallikarjun Kharge, Oscar Fernandes, B K Hariprasad etc succeeding to get their own people nominated in place of recommended ones at the last minute, it is said.
