Addressing the gathering, Melvyn Rodrigues said, “Without respiration, we cannot speak a word or live. There is life and meaning in each word that comes out of our mouth. Likewise Wilfy has put life in all the songs which he composed. Wilfy has written more than 3,000 Konkani songs and through these songs, he continues to live in the lives of all Konkani speaking people. He has used more than 4.5 lac words. In these 4.5 lac words, there is Wilfy’s respiration, life and soul. Konkani speaking people are spread all over the world. No matter where he or she is in the world, at least one of Wilfy’s songs they would remember. By singing Wilfy Rebimbus’s songs, we keep him still alive and fresh even today”.
Addressing the contestants, Melvyn said not to lose hope if they are at the receiving end since winning and losing are part of competition.
