Mangalore, Oct 23: Mangalore South MLA, J R Lobo celebrated Deepavali festival in a unique way today by inaugurating different road projects worth Rs.2.31 crore.
Lobo travelled to various places inside Mangalore city including Jappinamogaru, Kodialbail, Shakthinagar, Attavar, Maroli and Alape and inaugurated road projects in these wards.
Kallathadame road in Jappinamogaru with an outlay of Rs. 40 lac, different projects in Vivek Nagar of Kodialbail with an outlay Rs. 76 lac, Meginamane road in Shakthinagar, Babugudde road in Attavar, Nattimane road in Maroli with an outlay of Rs.25 lac each respectively and Kannagudde road in Alape with an outlay of Rs.40 lac are the projects which were kicked off today.
“I am happy to be with people during the celebration of Deepavali festival. We are starting different road projects today. The work will begin soon for these projects. The conditions of the roads in the city are very bad. All the roads will be repaired. But the interior roads and the roads in the rural areas of the city should be repaired first so that people will not hesitate to travel and settle in these areas. Only with the development of these areas, we will see real development. The rural roads within the city limits will be given special preference to ease up the traffic in the main city.” J R Lobo said during his trip to different places. He wished well for people on the occasion of Deepavali, the festival of lights.
Mayor Mahabala Maarla, Corporators Prakash Salian, K Zubeida, Shailaja, Keshava Maroli, B Prakash, Devappa Suvarna, Gangadhar Poojary, Jayantha Poojary, Kallige Tharanatha Shetty, Abdul Aziz, T K Sudheer, Denis D’Silva, Ramananda Poojary and Krithin Kumar accompanied the MLA during his city trip.
