Bangalore, Oct 23: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, G Parameshwar, has ordered party leaders and workers not to openly discuss issues relating to the leadership of the Congress party.
The diktat comes in the wake of the fact that some of the party leaders had openly expressed their displeasure at the way the party was led by the central leadership in the recent assembly elections in Haryana and Maharashtra. Minister, Dinesh Gundu Rao, and former MP, H Vishwanath, had recently spoken about the ineffectiveness of the central leadership, thus causing discomfiture and embarrassment to the central leadership of the party. Taking serious view of these developments, the state leadership has asked party cadres to desist from such criticisms.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Parameshwar asserted that the party as a whole has total confidence in the leadership provided by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. 'Victory and defeat in election keep happening. The party will recover and gain past glory soon. As such, the need of the hour is to concentrate on building organizational set up of the party. The party is going through a difficult phase, and no one should behave in a way that puts the party in a fix. If they have any opinions to express, they are free to bring the same before the party fora,' he clarified.
