Mangalore, Oct 22: Various cases have been filed against five Bajrang Dal activists and Roshan Shetty at Konaje police station on Wednesday.
Vivita D'Souza (Also known as Sonia) daughter of Patrick D' Souza from Eliyarpadav is the complainant.
Roshan Shetty, who married Vivita D’Souza and VHP / Bajrang Dal activists Jagadish Shenava, Dinesh Kadri, Sharath Amblamogaru, Ganesh Kumpala and Praveen Kuthar are the persons against whom the cases of abduction and threatening have been filed under various IPC sections.
As per the complaint Vivita D' Souza who had been to Mangalore central market on October 16 met Roshan Shetty whom she knew well. Roshan gave her some juice mixed with intoxicating substance and abducted her with the help of 5 others. Later they took her towards Moodbidri and attempted to sexually assault her. She was also forcibly detained and threatened by these people.
The complaint further states that Vivita was also asked to sign some documents at a lawyer’s office. She was compelled to marry Roshan Shetty after she and her family received the threat from the accused.
Konaje police have registered cases under IPC sections: 143,147, 366,342,354,323,506 and 149.
21-year old Vivita D’Souza, a catholic had entered into wedlock with Konaje resident Roshan, a Hindu on October 16, at Arya Samaj in the presence of Hindu activists. The media also had covered the simple wedding ceremony. Before that the parents of Vivita had lodged missing complaint with the police.
As per the sources the married couple had stayed only for four days together before Vivita leaving Roshan to go back to her parents.
Daijiworld spoke to Roshan Shetty who revealed that Vivita's family might have prompted her to walk away from him. According to him the couple had stayed in a lodge in Mangalore on Sunday October 19 after coming back from Moodbidri where they had gone to visit a friend. Later at night, Vivita had disappeared with some documents without his knowledge while he was having bath. He says he still loves her and wants her to come back to him.
