Mangalore, Oct 22: Diwali, the festival of lights was celebrated with much joy and fervour at Karavali Institute of Technology here on Tuesday October 21, with lecturers and students coming together to burst crackers, exchange greetings and rejoice.

S Ganesh Rao, founder president, G R Education Trust and Karavali College, inaugurated the celebration by lighting the lamp.

Heads of various departments and students celebrated the festival in the college a day in advance so students could be home to celebrate the festival which falls on Wednesday October 22.

Girls dressed in traditional attires welcomed everyone by lighting the traditional ‘diyas’ and later fire crackers were burst. The night sky lit up in myriad colours of fireworks.

Lata Rao, director of the College and other faculty members were present. A cultural programme was also staged by students on the occasion. All the gathered students thoroughly enjoyed the celebration.
