Margao, Oct 23: Fifteen out of 24 girls from Ludhiana, Punjab who were in unlawful confinement here for two months, have managed to flee and return home.
They are said to have been brought to Goa in the middle of August by an agent, luring them with promises of nursing jobs in the armed forces and kept them confined in a south Goa-based hostel over the last two months.
According to the police sources, these girls were brought to Goa for flesh trade. But when the girls came to know of the ruse and trick laid by the agent from Punjab, they planned to flee by complaining to their parents and succeeded in winning their freedom.
Their parents had come down to Goa to free them. No sooner did they reach Ludhiana back than they all lodged a complaint against the agent and on Monday, October 23 evening, the Ludhiana police requested the Goa police to nab the agent and to free the rest of the girls, who had still remained confined.
When contacted, South Goa police superintendent Shekhar Prabhudesai said the search was on to trace the other nine girls and to nab the agent.
