Hubli: Ex- policeman assaults Yelburga MLA with 'chappal'

Daijiworld Media Network – Hubli (RJP)

Hubli, Oct 20: Former Minister and Yelburga MLA Basavaraj Rayareddy was assaulted with slippers at a function in Mudhol village in Koppal district on Saturday.

The person who assaulted the former minister is identified as Basavaraj K. Hosahalli, a resident of Yelburga.
As per reports Basavaraj Hosahalli allegedly assaulted the former minister with slippers at a function attended by Rayareddy and P.T. Parmeshwar Naik, Minister of State for Labour.

The MLA Rayareddy was heading towards the stage with the minister and others after inaugurating an Industrial Training Institute building when the incident took place. The accused acted as if he had come to present a petition, turned violent at once to take out slippers and assault the MLA.

Immediately after the incident, the accused was caught and handed over to the police.

According to T.D. Pawar, Superintendent of Police, the accused was a Bangalore City Armed Reserve police constable who had left the police force. Some sources said that the accused is mentally ill.

The accused later told the police that he ‘tried’ to hit Rayareddy as the latter had failed to respond to his representation given earlier where he had applied for a house under Ashraya scheme.

While I do not condone taking law into one's hands .. let it be known that this incident is THE PULSE OF THE COMMON MAN .. for too long we the common people have humiliated ourselves by 'ADORING' these useless chaps .. many a time my won blood boils seeing the way people fall at the feet of these so called NETA's .. whereas they care 2 hoots for our plight .. their only interest is to amass wealth for themselves and help only their own chamchas. It is an eye sore to see the way these half baked creatures throw their weight around, what more can one say after seeing the way Tamil Nadu Amma has behaved these past two decades .....

@Santhosh,Mangalore,Sure,in India common People adore the biggerhigh ones.It has come since years. They cant look behind their deeds. But that doesnt mean a educated Person should not go beneath his grade and attach and assault with sandals.even when he does ,he himself is not educated we can say.what politicians do,we too are partially our fault to choose them when they offer Money ,present many promises. But with assaulting we dont get anything but make ourselves guilty in front of the law.

Mentally ill or not, something in the sub-conscious has irked this incident. This predicts the things to come!

People will no longer tolerate "irresponsibility & accountability". Failing which, madness in human-kind will come to the fore.

Treatment by chocolates and flowers is far-fetched and may be in the next civilization history, in a country like our politicians!!

As one can perceive the ex-policeman may not have been in his senses. He probably did know What he was doing.

I am sure that the Police Force will determine the reason for the assault and take necessary action bearing in mind the fact that there is every reason to assume that the person concerned was not in a proper state of mind.

Whether he is good or bad is irrelevant.Physical abuse should not be tolerated by civilized society. Guilty to be punished by courts and not by public.Such cases should not be taken lightly.

Some people behave decent in front of public, but their real behavior will be different inside their office. Employees and people working under them are the best to say whether they are proper or not.

Ministers, MLAs, Politicians, Influential people should learn from this. Whenever these people are approached by needy people they give false assurances and give dates to come another day and again and again give dates without giving any help. This has become very common for this type people who enjoy others sufferings. Frustrated by this some people like above take this type of action. In Mangalore also one ex minister/ex MLA is very known for giving false assurances, tell them to come to his work, then to his office, then tell them to come to Bangalore office, and there again tell them to come another day without giving any help.
