Panaji, Oct 19 (IANS): As the Congress was routed in Maharashtra and Haryana, a spokesman for the party's Goa unit Sunday called for an end to "dynasty politics".
In his Facebook post uploaded after the Haryana and Maharashtra results emerged, Durgadas Kamat said the poll outcome needed introspection within the party.
"End should be put to dynasty politics whether at the centre or states. Young people who perform and do not have political godfathers should be brought forward in the best interest of Indian politics," Kamat said.
The comment appeared to be a critique of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son and vice president Rahul Gandhi as well as mini political dynasties in Goa who function as permanent satraps in the state Congress unit.
"(If they) get in young blood without family raj, the result would have been different. Hope in Goa too our people understand the same and not tell me to keep my mouth shut against the government," Kamat said.
